GLAFOAM is an extremely porous, earth-friendly, biological filter material made from a mixture of recycled glass which is flaked and natural ocean shell powder. During the manufacturing process, large quantities of minute pores are formed in various sizes which promote extreme purification bacteria development. The smaller sized pores (0.02 to 0.1 mm) are designed for bacterial development while the larger sized pores (0.1 to 1.0 mm) are designed to supply higher levels of oxygen and nutrition to maintain bacteria regeneration and health.
